Swim
Comments: Psychologically my best race swim ever. Very short, but felt great. Hips sank a lot, but no problems with breathing, and the lengths felt far faster/ shorter than what my pool swims feel like. Form suckfied, but I was really happy, in that I didnt get passed, I did pass a couple of people. Never freaked about being in the water like I normally do. Transition 1
Comments: Run to bike. Spent a good 30 seconds or more looking for sunscreen. Never found it. What would you do differently?: Put on sunscreen before the race. Bike
Comments: Hill from mile 1 to 2.3 was significant. Slowed to under 6 miles per hour. Lots of folks got off and walked. I never did. Hit 37.5 mph on the downhill. Could have pushed a bit harder the last 5 miles. I kept telling myself this was a race and keep pushing. I did pass a number of people. Pretty happy with the bike, and it is always my favorite part of the race. CAF guy passed me the last half mile on the bike, but I passed him on the swim. Transition 2
Comments: Bike to swim. Spent a lot of time trying to finding goggles. Run
Comments: Pretty happy with the run given how hot it was and mile two was not steep, but mosty uphill the whole mile. What would you do differently?: Put on sunscreen before the race. Some dummy ( me) forgot, and I had it in the gear bag. DoH! Post race
Warm down: Talk to OC Tri members. Look for Mike. Drive to hospital to get Mike. Event comments: My friend Mike crashed on the bike and broke his right collarbone. Hit gravel on the downhill. Spent 3 hours in the hospital with him, and then drove him home. Last updated: 2008-05-18 12:00 AM
