Swim
Comments: OK...so I always panic when I try my wetsuit...I try it the first race of each season same thing happens I cant freakin breathe and freak out. So I am thinking I wont wear it and be fine. Well the rain starts the water is terribly cold and some other BT'ers say oh...you'll be fine you better wear the suit. Even though it is a shorty I still have problems. So I get out in the water and it is absolute ice! My face hits and panic starts.....I feel like something is just crushing my chest. I start to tread and the guy on the kayak sees me and I said I have to take this thing off....so he says fine.....as I am spending all this energy getting the damn thing off I finally do and I give it a toss. By this time I can't get my breath back at all so I have to breast stroke the entire 250 meters and when I got out my chest hurt! What would you do differently?: find a wet suit that I can swim in! Transition 1
Comments: Dried off my feet on with my shoes...just wore my regular tennis shoes cause it was a short bike and then quick run. I had already planned early on to just have caged pedals on my bike because I knew during the weekend some of these hills were gonna be walked and my bike shoes were'nt made for walkin! Bike
Comments: I've biked this little climb before and it's not super bad. It is a tough climb and I knew what to expect. It was cold and still raining so my toes got a little cold Transition 2
Comments: transition was fast cause all I had to do was hang up my bike. Run
Comments: run was decent I just took it slow as I new what the weekend had in store for me Post race
Event comments: It was great to meet alot of BT'ers. Met Steve and Paul earlier at my toy store then at the race met Rick, his friend Brian, Chuck, Deanna, Dollar and Jessica. Deanna had a new partner step in for her at the last minute and I was like boy you look familiar and it was a guy by the name of Barry from Batavia.....funny thing we had met at a race like 5 years ago. What a small world. After the race Rick said you have to get in that water and get use to that suit...I knew I had to or I was gonna freeze my ass off all weekend. So about an hour later we located my suit and I slowly walked in splashed the god awful cold water on my arms, face down my suit and slowly lowered myself in the water.....I swam about 15 min could feel alittle tightness but not too bad and thought to myself you can do this. So I went home and tried to get some rest......I dreamed all nite of the swim, of my wetsuit, not breathing it was a terrible nite! Last updated: 2008-05-23 12:00 AM

Got off work at 3pm and drove to the race site. Steve and Paul from BT had stopped in the toy store earlier so it was really nice to meet a few new friends before the race.
