  • Comments: I just don't get it on my time unless it's wrong. I felt like I was swimming too fast and slowed down a hair. I def didn't feel like I was swimming slow. I felt like I crushed the bike and passed several people. My run was decent. I can't believe I didn't set a timer, except on the run. I forgot to hit my button on bike computer so I'm not sure how quick it really was. bummer! disappointed. I didn't think my transitions were that slow either. hmmm???

  • Comments: I beat Alaina by a whole minute this year and was 34th OA. The time gains are obviously minimal for this race, but so is the damage on the sticks. This effort was a good balance.

  • Comments: The first of 4 races over a long weekend so no point in putting out too much effort. Not quite long enough to get warmed up and the water was so cold was hard to get up to speed. Bike was 90% climb, run was through soggy grass.

  • Comments: This was just the warmup to a LONG weekend. It was too short for you to get into any real rhythm and a good opportunity to scout the competition.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: Most folks will look at the distance of this race and kind of shrug it off...it's 29 minutes long, how hard can it be? But the genious of the prologue is twofold...it begins the process of breaking down your body, and seeding your mind with doubt. First, the body....lots of folks wanted to RACE this race, and they did. And it took a ton of energy out of their legs, as they attacked it like a standalone race. Many folks that went nuts-out in the prologue DNF'ed the weekend. Conserving energy is the better part of valour for this event; those that didn't pace paid the price. Second, the mind. The prologue gives you just a taste, a hint, a smidge of the hills, the water temperature, and the competition. If you weren't a little scared already, it started the process. If you WERE a little scared or doubting already, it just magnified them. At best, I was going to have to do a huge number of things that I've never tried just to even FINISH the weekend - swimming in 56 deg, riding hills

  • Comments: It was great to meet alot of BT'ers. Met Steve and Paul earlier at my toy store then at the race met Rick, his friend Brian, Chuck, Deanna, Dollar and Jessica. Deanna had a new partner step in for her at the last minute and I was like boy you look familiar and it was a guy by the name of Barry from Batavia.....funny thing we had met at a race like 5 years ago. What a small world. After the race Rick said you have to get in that water and get use to that suit...I knew I had to or I was gonna freeze my ass off all weekend. So about an hour later we located my suit and I slowly walked in splashed the god awful cold water on my arms, face down my suit and slowly lowered myself in the water.....I swam about 15 min could feel alittle tightness but not too bad and thought to myself you can do this. So I went home and tried to get some rest......I dreamed all nite of the swim, of my wetsuit, not breathing it was a terrible nite!
