Pre-race routine:

6am race start meant early up for a bit of coffee and a bit of yoga. Race site was nearby, so only took few minutes to get there. Sipped Gatorade-E on the way as it was going to be very humid. Hit the porta-potty (actually, like a real, mobil bathroom...very nice) and met up with a couple of friends to chat.
Event warmup:

Since it was supposed to be a "training" run for me, I skipped a warmup and decided to use the first 2 miles of the race for that.

Comments:

I do not know what's wrong with me. Every day I feel like I am slipping back rather than making progress. It's not that I felt too hot, too thirsty, or as if I went out too fast. I simply could not go faster. But, it seems that at this point, I should be improving...not getting worse. I did have a longish porta-potty break around the 3-mile mark because I had to unwrap the TP, but really, I think even on an easy run, my time should be closer to the 2-hour mark.
What would you do differently?:

I don't know what to do anymore.
Post race
Warm down:

Little bit of walking, little bit of water, little bit of crying feeling sorry for myself.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I have no idea.

Event comments:

Marathon Makeover put on an excellent first-year race. Wonderful course, tons of volunteers, lots of water, good food and entertainment afterward, and quick results. Really, couldn't ask for more.

Performance: Bad
Course: Challenging, rolling course that started with an out-and-back on Highland Colony Parkway and then headed into Dinsmore, onto Old Agency, into Bridgewater, onto Steed, back to Higland Colony and past Rennaissance and out to Hinds CC before coming back to Highland Colony on the new MUT and heading toward the finish. Despite my struggles, I liked this course.
