Pre-race routine:

Left ATL bright-eyed at 4:30. Garmin GPS lead us through kentucky hick land (i.e. dogs sleeping in the road...) so we didn't arrive as planned. Gawked at cold mud spit of a lake and the spitting sky.

Comments:

Lost my composure a bit in the cold and was just windmilling madly. In general disbelief. Unintentionally swam over several (hyperventilating?) gasping people. More of that to follow.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe some relaxation breathing. Too amped, and that wasn't productive.

Actually tie my shoes, rather than slip them on and jostle about.

Sad to say, but after this prologue, I was wondering what the hell I was doing back in OH: felt unprepared for the cold weather and just generally ill at ease. What will tomorrow bring?
