Swim
Comments: Much more people here than my last race. My wave had 102 in it. Took a while to get comfortable and find my own lane and pace. I swam WAY better than my first race and felt a lot more comfortable. I sighted better and did not slow down nearly as much in traffic. Overall I am very happy with how my 2nd OWS went compared to the first. What would you do differently?: Just keep practicing. I still can't believe the fastest guy finished the swim in under 6min...ridiculous!! Transition 1
Comments: This was a very long run from the water to my bike. But overall it went smoothly. What would you do differently?: With the exception of running a little faster I don't think it could've gone too much better. Bike
Comments: I knew the course would be fairly hilly, and it was. I was hoping to keep my pace up over 19mph and just barely missed. Again this was my strongest leg and I felt good. Probably could've pushed a little harder but didn't realize the last 2mi was all downhill. What would you do differently?: More work on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: I had been practicing it but this was the first race where I pulled my feet out of the shoes while still riding and it went off without a hitch. Overall the transition went very well, but with 800+ bikes, I ran down the wrong isle and then had to loop around to get to mine. Cost a few sec. What would you do differently?: Find something to signal which rack my bike is on. Run
Comments: Definitely not my strongest run. I think the mile marker pacing screwed me up. What would you do differently?: Work on bricks to get my legs more used to the bike/run transition. Post race
Warm down: Got away from the crowd and got a good 10min of stretching in. Got back in the water to cool off. Felt really good. What limited your ability to perform faster: My lack of training. My goal was to beat my first race time and I did by 16sec, but with the bike course change this one was .2mi shorter. So overall I was a little unhappy with that. Event comments: Only been to 1 other try and 1 du before this, but this one was way better than both. Lots of good food, beer, music, and festivities. Will definitely try to do this one again. Racing with 800+ people was a new challenge for me but a good experience. My other races were much smaller. Last updated: 2008-06-02 12:00 AM

2nd tri ever! Slept in a little longer. Learned from my first race I don't need to be there right when transition opens. Cereal for breakfast. Half a banana and a few bites of a power bar about 1hr before race.
Did some stretching and got a quick little swim in.
