Total Time = 1h 28m 7s
Overall Rank = 478/795
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 139/182
Pre-race routine:

woke up around 5 AM, rode my bike from my house down to transition at 6AM, picked up race packet, got body marked. walked back home, got my running gear ready, did a warm up jog from my house back to transition to double check things, went to pre-race meeting, and got my wetsuit ready for my 1st ever open water swim!
Event warmup:

not much other than trying to get the butterflies to go away for my very 1st triathlon
Swim
  • 11m 4s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 31s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

train in the pool, train in OW, work harder on the swim...I've been battling ITB most of the spring...so all of my training has pretty much gone in the toilet...but I didn't do any swim training...shame on me regardless of the ITB.
Transition 1
  • 06m 4s
Comments:

other than not getting my wetsuit off in an effecient manner, i was happy w/ my transition...lots of work to do there...I could have taken 4 minutes out of T1 easily
What would you do differently?:

practice
Bike
  • 43m 20s
  • 13 miles
  • 18.00 mile/hr
Comments:

I was pleased with the bike portion of this race...I posted my fastest average time of three events this year. Personal best on the bike for me
What would you do differently?:

practice more...drive the route before the race
Transition 2
  • 02m 21s
Comments:

not bad...still would like to be faster once off of the bike...haven't tried running w/o my cleats yet...I think I need to be more comfortable with that part...lots to learn yet...I'm a sponge for advice.
Run
  • 25m 22s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

I was very pleased with my run after my first ever OW swim, a bike and a run that I'm familiar with. I probably could've dipped down into sub 24 but since I haven't trained in 3 + weeks because of my ITB, I was very pleased with this run
Post race
Warm down:

water, water, water, shade and sugar

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of preparation

Event comments:

Great race! I like the "bigger" atmosphere...but there's plusses and minus to each type I guess...I'm very new to the sport, loving it, and learning a lot...thanks to everybody who I've met who've been more than gracious with all kinds of tips and tricks...I'll pay it forward when I have the chance! Thank you!
