Swim
Comments: don't know what to say. normally I probably would have finished 440 in about 6-7 minutes. Tried to start front and center and just died after about a 100 yard sprint. I was sucking air. The rest of the time I couldn't find a rhythm - my stroke was screwed up, my breathing was screwed up, it felt as if my arms were filled w/ lead weight. What would you do differently?: focus. I know i can finish this distance in the top 40-50% easily. F.O.C.U.S. Transition 1
Comments: bad transition time had to do with my slow walk from the water to the transition area. Everything else went smooth. What would you do differently?: find some energy to run from water's edge to bike. Bike
Comments: i really struggled the first 3, maybe 4 miles. Couldn't summon any energy. I shifted to my smallest cog and just started spinning, keep a high cadence and get the blood and oxygen flowing. Once I got to mile 5 or 6 everything just kicked in. I was literally holding 25mph to 27mph on the flats for the last 6 miles. I caught up to 3 or 4 other racers that had passed me a couple miles back (aero helmet, zipps and other assorted expensive gear). I passed them and then three of them would pass me. This went on for about the last 2 or 3 miles. I reached the bike dismount line at exactly the same time as the other 4. What would you do differently?: Try to crank it up sooner. The fact that I was holding between 25 and 27 mph the last 4 miles or so (on flats - no hills) makes me think that I am capable of doing even better (minus another 30 lbs too). Transition 2
Comments: Switched between my Polar and my Garmin. What would you do differently?: Turn on my Garmin before the race starts. Run
Comments: Man. ok. First I walked the first .25 miles of the course waiting for my Garmin to pickup a satelite. After that I never walked again but I might as well have been. I think I burnt myself out on the bike. I had almost the same time at the Sea Isle City Tri and that was a beach run. Post race
Event comments: Would consider doing it again. Although I may try the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon during the same weekend next summer. Last updated: 2008-06-02 12:00 AM

really short 10 minute jog (not long enough) and about 3 minutes of swim warmup. Almost didn't get back to the start line of my wave.
