Sunny
Total Time = 58m 32s
Overall Rank = 80/207
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 15/30
Pre-race routine:

Being my first ever swim race, I was a bit careful on the food. Ate Multigrain toast with peanut butter and honey and drank two bottles of water with nuun leading up to start time
Event warmup:

Stretched and decided not to get in the pool to warm up
Swim
  • 58m 32s
  • 3520 yards
  • 01m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

I have learned that I need to go out very slow at first because I tend to make myself get out of breath with all the excitement of the race - I let my body tell me when to speed up. This was what I needed as far as practice for open water swimming and the madness at IMLP
What would you do differently?:

Need to get better at drafting and being comfortable doing it.
Post race
Warm down:

Went for 4 hr bike ride....I wouldnt call that a warmdown

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not sure - more practice

Event comments:

Great race, but I have nothing to compare it to
