Pre-race routine:

Awake at 3:00 am, eat a bowl of oatmeal, grab my stuff and drive to town to meet non-BT co-worker for the 2 1/2 hour drive to the Race. The drive took much longer than anticipated due to detours for road construction. We arrived at the park just before check-in closed. Had just enough time to check-in, get marked, set-up transition, and warm-up run and a trip to the toilet.
Event warmup:

1/2 mile warm-up run to the toilet and back. Not much of a warm up but I'm sure my fellow racers would probably appreciate my trip to the restroom much more than my warm-up run.
Run
  • 12m 24s
  • 2 miles
  • 06m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt great on the run. I really wanted to break 12 minutes but the trail forced me to slow so as not to bust my ass.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m 42s
Comments:

Transition was great. Had some trouble getting into my right shoe. No big deal. 3rd fastest transition.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 10m 24s
  • 22 miles
  • 18.75 mile/hr
Comments:

I'm slightly dissapointed with my bike segment. Just couldn't seem to get into cadence on the rollers. Climbs weren't too bad but I didn't do as well as I should have. I had to deal with major cramps in my right calf for several miles past the halfway point. Even unclipping my right foot on a downhill to try and stretch it out.
What would you do differently?:

Did better than last year but still not where I believe I should be. More bike training!
Transition 2
  • 35m 37s
Comments:

3rd Overall fastest. No complaints.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 30m 17s
  • 4 miles
  • 07m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt ok on the run. No big deal. Wished I would have ran faster. I usually run a moderate after transition before I pick it up. Next race I'll pick it up sooner and run harder. I still had gas left in the tank once again.
What would you do differently?:

Leave it all on the course.
Post race
Warm down:

Jogged for a couple of minutes. Ate several orange halves, and a couple of bottles of water. Took a short swim to cool off. Hung around and chatted with friends waiting for awards.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training. Training destractors (work, life, etc...) since May I believe seriously inhibited my performance. I have two more DUs in the series and I'm going to try and work harder, especially on the bike.

Event comments:

Once again, Great Race, great series!
