Swim
Comments: I was really worried about the swim. This was my first OWS since IMAZ. It was without a doubt the roughest water I have ever been in. There were whitecaps on the lake. Luckily, my bilateral breathing practice came in really handy today. If you did not breathe to the right, you would get a mouthful of lake water. I never felt panicky at all. I was about 1:30 slower than I was hoping to be, but with the conditions of the lake, I was not disappointed. My sighting has never been better. I was straight to each bouys. Drafting was non-existant as I was just too busy concentrating on the waves. What would you do differently?: Try to draft. Other than that, with the conditions on the lake, I could not be any happier with my swim. Transition 1
Comments: I really need to practice getting on the bike with my shoes already attached. I was going to try today but my rack was the furthest from the bike out and did not want to chance it. What would you do differently?: Practice keeping my shoes clipped into the bike. Bike
Comments: Totally ate the paste and it was yummy! This was my best race ride ever. The winds were insane. Going out, the crosswinds blew from right to left. I was able to stay in aero the entire time on the way out. Once we hit the turn, the winds seemed stronger. The bigger issue was, on the way out, the crosswinds would blow you into the center of the road, on the back, they were trying really hard to blow me over the guardrail. A few times I had to get up onto the hoods a few times because I felt unstable. What would you do differently?: Flip a switch and shut off the winds. Transition 2
Comments: Did my first flying dismount! Probably was not too pretty, but I did it. Other than that, nothing exciting about this transition What would you do differently?: Nada Run
Comments: OMG - first in AG on a run. Has Hell frozen over?? It was not really fast, but in the end, who cares! What would you do differently?: Keep getting faster Post race
Warm down: It was awesome to have people at the finish line cheering for me! I really wanted to break 1:10:00. When I crossed, I stopped my watch and it said 10:00:00. I was really hoping that I started the timer a little late or stopped it a second or so late. I was so happy when I saw 1:09:59 on the printout. Got some water and waited for Steve to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Rough water, wind and slow run. Event comments: Jack always puts n a great race. When it comes to organization, he is right there. It was great of him to allow us to race on Sunday after the mishap of Saturday. Course was great! Can't blame the RD for the wind and rough waters. My only suggestions would be to have more than 5 port-a-potties and maybe a beter selection of post-race food. Other than that, fantastic race! Thanks Brandt for coming out and being the photographer and for cheering us on. Also thanks to Brian and Gary for being there. Congrats to all the BT'ers who raced today. Steve, Tommy and Jacob (who both took home some hardware), Bonnie who put her swim demons behind her and John who rocked the course. Last updated: 2008-06-08 12:00 AM

Up at 5 and out the door at 5:30. Picked up Brandt and got the the race site a little after 6. Ate a PB and banana on a bagel in the car. Typical pre-race routine. Set up transition, waited for the port-a-potty and just waited for the race to start.
Got in the water for a few minutes. It was warmer than I expected. Other than that, just watched the first few waves go and waited to get into the water.
