Pre-race routine:

Got up early, had a banana, power bar, and coffee. This was my first triathlon, so I was pretty excited to get to the course early.

I expected the swim to be tough. My form seemed fine, but I got tired pretty quickly. I alternated between freestyle and back stroke (to catch my breath).
What would you do differently?:

Need to swim more to build up endurance.

I was pretty tired from the swim. I did not even have a wet suit to worry about. I could have been more efficient here.

I really thought I would do better on the bike. The course was much tougher than I expected, and that cost me some time. All in all, however, I think I did OK given the hills.

By the time I got to the run, I was pretty tired. Found myself walking a bit in the early going, and it was a struggle to force myself to jog slowly. Once I hit the turn around, I became convinced that I would finish and picked up the pace. Still had enough gas to give it a sprint to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Not much; I'm glad I finished.

I am pretty happy that I completed my first triathlon. It was harder than I expected, but that makes me all the more proud to have done it. I have a few things to work on, but all in all I can't complain.
