  • Comments: Very smooth race. Course was very well marked, and plenty of signs and volunteers to make certain that you did not go off course. Post race, usual bagels, bananas, oranges, plus muscle milk and zico. Finally tried the choco zico, which I thought tasted like yoohoo, I'll stick to pineapple. Also tried muscle milk, good creamy taste, but slight after-taste.

  • Comments: I am pretty happy that I completed my first triathlon. It was harder than I expected, but that makes me all the more proud to have done it. I have a few things to work on, but all in all I can't complain.

  • Comments: I think this is a nice local race, some basics could be improved, there is no "little pool" to run through to get the sand off your feet. There was no sweep vehicle on the course. On the other hand the race goddies were nice, nice little shoe bag, and shirt, post race food and drink was good too.

  • Comments: Well organised. These guys have obviously done this before! Would recommend to anyone looking for a challenging sprint distance, as the bike hills can make or break your day.

  • Comments: For my first triathlon ever, I am going to call this mission successful! I tore it up on the bike and I learned that I need to step it up in the swim and run training. My bike training is on the right course.

  • Comments: Definantly need to get more confident with my swimming and running. My next race I am going to take the inside passing lane. I find myself drifting away from the pack I think this is due to my fear of getting run over and wanting to look for open water, I think I pay for this however, in swimming back to the bouy.. Will see if the inside philosophy works for next race.

  • Comments: Second times the charm. This performance was much better than last week at Pawling. Swim was good and I got over the panic attacks of Pawling. Bike was really good. Run was average, but much better than Pawling. Great race and a lot of fun. I finally felt like a real triathlete! Clear areas for improvement. West Point Tri here I come!

  • Comments: Given that this was unplanned and I was coming off a heavy volume training week I'm thrilled w/ my overall performance. A PB, beating last year's time by 11:28 and finishing top 10 in my AG, 8/39, I can't be happier. Have I mentioned that I hate the timimg system? Irks me that NYTC puts on so many races and and doesn't use a chip that can time transitions. But Harriman does prvide a great venue, Ben was doing it and it's only 15 mins from home, so too easy to pass up.

  • Comments: Had #1 this year because I registered early. Got all sorts of questions and comments. Arg...One person asked me about how I got #1. The guy who marked my arm bragged to the other markers that he did #1. I was passed on the real hilly portion of the course by #29. He quiped to me that he had #1 last year. I joked that it was a curse and asked him if he wanted to trade. Later on I passed him again on the bike. During the run #29 passes me. I didn't realize at the time that this was the same guy that had #1 last year. I stayed on his heels. About the last 100 yards another guy comes flying passed us so I kick it into high gear (I still had something remaining to my amazement) and passed #29 the last 100 yards. He came up to me after the timing shoot and shook my hand and told me he was the same guy who had #1 last year. We congratulated each other on a great race. That was a fantastic moment. I had a wonderful cheering section. My wife, son, stepdaughter, Jenn Birmingham, Douglass
