Swim
Comments: Time includes a long run from swim exit to transition. Real pace was 1:24/100yds. Transition 1
Comments: Time wasn't reported. Average T1. I was the lead cyclist out of T1 and held the lead till the last mile or 2. Bike
Comments: Time for T1, bike, and T2 was 37:26. I took out 2 minutes for the transitions. An average bike for me. Lost the lead near the end. Transition 2
Run
Comments: This run was supposed to be 3 miles, but was quite short. No water on the course made for a difficult run. Post race
Event comments: This is my second year with an unpleasant experience at this race. I think it is a shame to charge people $89 under the pretense that this is a good first race because everyone else is new too. It is nice to have chip timing, but that is about the only good thing I can say. There are many problems in this race that could be fixed. I think a swim course of 400 yards needs more than two bouys. The transition area needs to be assigned spaces. The run should just be the correct length. Period. Add an out-and-back, find a different route, whatever. Additionally, I think it is wrong to place a bunch of first timers in a situation where water is not available on the run. I finished and ran water out to my wife and friends who were still on the course. It looked like a death march. I think this race plays into peoples natural fear of doing their first triathlon. It is expensive, not well supported, and looked fairly dangerous for the people riding in the pack. Running out the numbers, 344 people at $89, minus the 10% Active.com takes comes out to over $27k. What would it take to put fifty bucks worth of water at the turn around? Why not space the waves appropriately? Last updated: 2008-06-10 12:00 AM

Left the house about 5:30 for the drive. Stopped into Chick-fil-a for a biscuit and coke.
