Swim
Comments: I panicked in the middle, my breathing wasn't right, and I was swimming like I had no clue! The water was a weird blue color, and a bit on the cold side. I was glad to get out! What would you do differently?: Open water swim before the race, I need to practice a ton within the next 3 weeks for my next race. Transition 1
Comments: Being my first transition from swim to bike ever, I'm pleased with how it went. I need major work on my swim to bike transition. What would you do differently?: Practice swim to bike transition, a ton. If wearing a race number on body is not needed on the bike, wait to put it on during the run, I futzed around with putting it on for about 30 to 60 seconds (it was getting twisted when I tried to clip the belt). Bike
Comments: It rained, rained, and rained again. I had a blast though! Also got a warning for blocking. I freaked out on the corners since I was using my old training tires with no tread (yeah, not too smart). What would you do differently?: Don't forget to put the cycling computer on the bike next time! Practice keeping up speed in the corners. Practice staying in the aerobars in turns. Transition 2
Comments: Another slooooowww transition! I had trouble double knotting my laces, so I gave up. When I dismounted, I hit the front brake, which made the bikes rear end come up! What would you do differently?: Practice my bike to run transition, buy longer shoe laces before next race! Run
Comments: Shin splints for a mile and a half or so, I believe from the added shoes + socks + water logged feet. My laces came untied, go figure (didn't double knot). What would you do differently?: Nothing, I had an awesome run! Post race
Warm down: Didn't do a warm down, I was too excited to think about it! I wanted to get out of the rain too. What limited your ability to perform faster: I could have pushed myself more on the run portion if I didn't get shin splints. I think it was out of my control though. Pay more attention not to block, or draft during the bike portion, I don't want to get a penalty, or even worse, disqualify. Not practicing swim to bike transition and not having an OWS were probably the two biggest slow downs. Event comments: Great job for everybody that was volunteering/working! I had a blast and am totally hooked! Thanks to whomever took my race number from my girlfriend and put it on my bike! I appreciate it! Last updated: 2008-06-10 12:00 AM

I enjoyed 2 servings of oatmeal, with blackberries added. Used skim milk, and drank a ton of water. Oh yeah, I need to NEVER forget my race number again. I owe 99% of my race finish to my girlfriend that went back to pick my race number up from the hotel.
Horrible warmup, I didn't have much time since I was sitting around nervous about my race number. I ran to the bathroom, and ran back to the transition area. Before the race started, I did about 10 strokes in a shallow part of the pond. Obviously not enough to get used to OWS.
