Total Time = 1h 25m 47s
Overall Rank = 23/312
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/48
Pre-race routine:

Drove to the race, coffee, peanut butter sandwich, banana, coconut water
No warm up just picked up the race packet. Once I had my wetsuit on a went for a very quick dip in the water.
Event warmup:

Nothing
Swim
  • 12m 52s
  • 800 meters
  • 01m 37s / 100 meters
Comments:

Had a little bit of an anxiety attack, very subtle, nevertheless had to stop twice and do breast stroke.
What would you do differently?:

I should try one of these shorter warmer swims without a wetsuit just to see how it affects time
Transition 1
  • 02m 7s
Comments:

I had spare tubes and had to get those into my back pockets, also my GU. I made a mistake with my helmet and the strap got inside the helmet.
What would you do differently?:

Lay out better, I also really need to do a test run in running shoes without socks so I can skip the whole procedure of putting them on.
Bike
  • 47m 31s
  • 16 miles
  • 20.20 mile/hr
Comments:

I did this race in the Spring and decided to change my cassette to a 12-25 & a non aero wheelset instead of my 11-23 Mavic Carbones, this helped on the climb but I think I lost power on the flats, I think the 11-23 would have been the smarter choice.
What would you do differently?:

See above
Transition 2
  • 00m 57s
Comments:

Very bad transition, I lost at least 5-7 seconds here, I came in and thought that I had run past my stuff, I stopped loooked then ran a bit more and looked around again. I eventually got to my stuff after wasting precious seconds
What would you do differently?:

Get a very colorful transition towel and something to stick onto the bike rack so I can find my spot.
Run
  • 22m 21s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Just a hilly course, nothing much to say
Post race
Warm down:

Minor stretches

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing really I think I had a good race except for the transitions

Event comments:

Very nice local race, SBR does a great job
