Swim
Comments: VERY long swim, and not so great for me...I was weak on swimming and took way too many breathes and breast strokes...plus my right goggle kept filling with water and I would stop to fix in...the first swim out tot the first big buoy was very sunny as well with sun in my eyes What would you do differently?: Adjust goggles better...I should have used dark goggles for this swim because of the sun...lots more strokes and less breath Transition 1
Comments: Not the greatest transition...I was pretty winded...and then tried to get on bike, before was supposed to and needed to go over mat first...lost a lot of time doing that...since it was on an uphill What would you do differently?: Move faster...run out to mount spot faster Bike
Comments: This was a very poor bike for me...I couldn't keep cadence up and I didn't feel I was pumping pushing enough...but I kept trying to... What would you do differently?: keep practicing hills and get through those faster...but also be sure to have the cadence for the flats... Transition 2
Comments: Half decent transition, but could be faster... What would you do differently?: Run faster...transition faster...take hat with and put on while running... Run
Comments: I didn't really stop once and I kept a good jog plus picked up a lot of extra speed for probably the last 3/4 mile...felt very good...one of my best feeling runs ever and I was quite happy with it. What would you do differently?: Keep pushing and try to pick up the speed further out...because once closr to the end...keep it going.. Post race
Warm down: walked around a bit...got some food What limited your ability to perform faster: No more walking around all day, day before race, no rushing/being late. Event comments: One of my favorite sprint tris to do...especially since its in my hometown of Salem and I know Salem and Marblehead so well...I will always do this race...plus I love doing FIRM races. Had toast with peanut butter and banana and plenty of water in the car on way there but Wow, was I late for this race...I was super slow going in the morning and I didn't leave enough time for waking up and getting ready...I arrived at 7 am and the race was slated to start at 7...luckily when I got there...while racers were in/near the water...hadn't started yet...I had to pick up my own packet/cross out my name etc...but luckily I was able to set up transition, use the restroom, do all that still get into water area before end of announcements and national anthem...going out in the 3rd wave was also a plus for being ready..especially mentally...
next to none...but when time for my heat to go in the water...I did at least dunk in the water..
