Swim
Comments: Felt good in the swim - despite the CRAZY crowded washing machine. Funny part - women are always fun to swim with...so nice and "oops, I'm sorry"ing all over the place. I find that funny. Bird and I were even chatting about 50m in! I could never find anyone to draft off of...goal for this race was to draft well and keep that pace. Never a chance...too busy trying to just FIND a spot to SWIM! I could see superbird about 10 m ahead of me and made it my goal to catch her...could never get there! Still - after my PlayTri experience - it was good to have a decent swim. What would you do differently?: Start closer to the front and try to establish a lane...dont think it wouldve worked in this race tho - TOO crowded everywhere I looked! Transition 1
Comments: I take too long in this transition...saw the birdy taking off as I entered. Got into t1 w/my friend KaNan (also racked beside me!) so we were chatting while prepping...I guess I should get more SERIOUS about it, but it was fun! What would you do differently?: move faster... Bike
Comments: Great bike...the hills felt great. Prob w/my gearing tho - my gears were slipping in the small ring. Felt great on climbs and tried hard to work the descents as best I could. I SOOOOO want to taste 20mph avg...oh well. Still my best bike to date! I loved seeing birdy up ahead (I left t1 a couple mins behind her and my goal became to catch her!) - but then, we avged almost the exact same mph...no catching the speedy bird today! Then I saw toad on his new rig...whew. Hmmm, I had bike at 18 miles...not 17.6 What would you do differently?: Hmmmm, not sure. Considering I've not ridden more than 3x since FL HIM, I think this was great Transition 2
Comments: felt good in t2...I still couldve moved faster, but I could hear my coach cheering and that motivated me to get moving!!! What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: GREAT run! Weather was perfect...overcast and actually cooler than I thought it'd be. I was DEADSET on sub 10 min mile...but, after 1st mile I couldnt really calm down my breathing (huffing and puffing!), so I walked a bit...then, the gradual hills got me and I walked a lot. I realized then that my race was going to be FUN, but not a PR on the run. Thats AOK. Fun part was seeing birdy (I knew she wasnt feeling good bc she didnt return my "squawk") and then the highlight was seeing the Toad followed by a vertically challenged Pope! GO POPE! He was hot on fasttoad's heels...what drama! Toad looked great, so I knew it'd be quite the race. Then I saw the MAN o' MY DREAMS...mtmoi! Lookin good for coming straight off the couch for an Oly! Of course, I cant forget that FLASH of green that went by (and ran into me!) - Miss Jennyfromtheblock (but dont be fooled by the rocks that she got, she's still she's still Jenny from the block). What would you do differently?: RUN. I would not walk...I couldve done it, but I felt beat. SHEESH, I shouldve pushed thru! Post race
Warm down: hangin w/my homeys! So fun to see the bt crew and meet a few new folks too. We got to chat up the Gorillas and watch the Olys finish, too! GREAT DAY...one of my favs yet! What limited your ability to perform faster: not keeping my training up... Event comments: Dallas Athletes races are the best races ever! Tom does a great job of creating a FUN atmosphere...better than 99% of races. If you get a chance to do a DA race, do it! And wear your disco gear, too... Last updated: 2008-06-15 12:00 AM
