Pre-race routine:

Not a great nite sleep; up at 5:30a; oatmeal, bannana, wheat bread with peanut butter; powerade and water
Event warmup:

short run (10 minutes) about 7:30a; swam about 300 yds. after that; felt good; love the wetsuit!
Swim
  • 28m 12s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Love the wetsuit! Awesome! Felt great on the swim --relaxed at the start and throughout; hung back a bit and on the left; swam outside of the "washing machine" but kept my eye on the pack. Sighting was good.
What would you do differently?:

Probably start out a little more toward the mid- to front; but I was pleased given this was my first OLY.
Transition 1
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

Pretty happy with the wetsuit removal
What would you do differently?:

Hmm, not sure.
Bike
  • 1h 23m 5s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 17.95 mile/hr
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Little trouble getting the socks on --arrgh!
What would you do differently?:

Bike more so that I perform better.
Run
  • 1h 05m 21s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 31s  min/mile
Comments:

UGH! The "wheels" fell off here. Gotta run more and do more bricks. Man I was soooo slow. I hate running! Plagued by running stitches beginning at mile 3.
What would you do differently?:

Run more; speed work; hill work; Run more. (Did I mention I hate running.)
Post race
Warm down:

Cold finishers towel (nice); lots of water/gatorade; yogurt. That's about it.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough running (even though I have done more running this year than ever before). This was my first OLY. Happy about the swim time, T1, wetsuit removal, the bike was good too, as was T2. Run --jeesh, nuff said. Perhaps I could have had another gel on the bike; but overall thought my hydration was pretty good (except for that side stitch thing).

Event comments:

Great race; great volunteers and organization. Good course.
