Comments: Man, the water seemed warm and it stunk. I am not sure if it always smells that bad but I kept smelling that stench on the run and still can't get rid of it. I started out in the middle rather than the outside and that was probably a bad idea as it was quite brutal and a lot of grabbing at the start. I pushed it pretty hard to get out of the pack and then found someone to draft off of for the next 200 meters or so. After that, I passed him and navigated the rest of the course without any problems until the congestion at the end. What would you do differently?: maybe start from the outside. Other than that, I think I held a pretty good pace for this race. Transition 1
Comments: It was a long run out of the water into the transition area and the pavement was pretty slick. I had a really slow T1 on my last race so I thought this was pretty good. What would you do differently?: not much... felt good Bike
Comments: Well, this is my weakest leg and unfortunately the longest... Anyway, I think I am getting better and I have to keep reminding myself that I have only been biking for about 4 months. I need to put in some longer rides but I felt pretty good overall with my effort and felt that I pushed it harder than I did on my previous race. What would you do differently?: just ride more. having a newborn at home prevented that this past month but I will focus on this in the off season. Transition 2
Comments: not much to say here as I thought it went well. Spent a few extra seconds messing with the Garmin. Run
Comments: I maybe started out too quick as I was definitely running out of steam towards the end. It was getting warm out there and I could have taken advantage of the aid stations a little more. What would you do differently?: drank a little more water. Post race
Warm down: drank plenty of water and hit up the massage tent. What limited your ability to perform faster: didn't train as much as I liked this past month but having a newborn will do that. Event comments: Jack and Adam's put on a great race. Not looking forward to that smelly water next year though Last updated: 2008-06-23 12:00 AM

Woke up at 4:45 and showered and then ate some oatmeal. Loaded up the bike and hit the road. I arrived around 6:30 and had plenty of time to set up.
Just light stretching. I was going to jump in the water but had to wait in line for the bathroom and by the time I did that they were kicking people out of the water. I guess I could have handled both at the same time:)
