Swim
Comments: Really couldn't see very well because A: Goggles kept fogging up like billyo and the buoys were just 2 flags floating on tyres which was hard to see in the sun. I strayed off course at least twice. What would you do differently?: I need better goggles so I can see! My plan was never to stop and I didn't. I flipped on my back to clean the goggles to keep moving. Transition 1
Comments: I wanted out under 2 minutes. I was doing well till the guy next to me knocked down my helmet, glasses, breathe strip, gloves etc. They scattered everywhere. What would you do differently?: Face my bike the other way. Bike
Comments: My legs felt so heavy the first few miles, took a while to get momentum going. I knew I was going around 13MPH roughly. My stupid odometer quit working...typical. I was also pretty dehydrated towards the turn around. What would you do differently?: More bricks, strength work on legs. Drink more. Transition 2
Comments: 2 minutes. I'll take it. What would you do differently?: Not a thing Sir. Run
Comments: My goal was to never stop. I thought of a strategy on the way up to the race. I will walk for only a max of 2 minutes at a time. I did. I walked 2, ran 3, 4, 5, 6 etc. My splits were totally consistent. A little slower than I would have liked but running is not my strong point. Also to finish in an hour, which I passed by 4 minutes. Normally this takes me well over an hour to do on a regular day JUST running, so I'm quite chuffed with myself. What would you do differently?: Take a water bottle with me.I was extremely dehydrated at this time. Post race
Warm down: JUMPING IN THE LAKE! Oh. What a relief! It was fun! What limited your ability to perform faster: The fact I had diarrhea before the race. The medication I'm on for the infection in my arm causes this. I couldn't stop it unfortunately. I did not drink enough and felt really dehydrated, especially on the run! Event comments: Brilliant race. Well organized, small, friendly and really well laid out. I give it 10/10. Will make this a regular yearly race as it's a great course and the people are so helpful and friendly it was a gorgeous, scenic place to race...can't beat the weather either! Just fantastic. Few minutes swim and stretching in the water.
