Swim
Comments: It was a pretty physical swim, lots of ladies full of kicks and grabs and hits....but I did ok, just ignoring it and moving forward. Hadn't done any long swimming for a long time! My last swim was last Saturday's triathlon. Egad. What would you do differently?: Swim more beforehand! Transition 1
Comments: Unzipped wetsuit in water and 'swooshed' the top off, made it easy. My transition spot was a long way from the water and I had to run a lot!! It seems like I took a long time getting ready for the bike, but I don't know for sure. Had to repin my race number onto my shirt. What would you do differently?: Get faster! Different race belt that doesn't ride up so I don't end up pinning number to a shirt.....maybe a race skirt...one was on sale at REI this week.....hmmm. Bike
Comments: I was feeling tired so couldn't really hit it hard for some reason. I had a calf cramp before the swim which bugged me a little bit, but really I was just not in top form today. It was fun to see Lynne out there on the course keeping us safe! What would you do differently?: Maybe not run 10 miles a couple of days before the tri! Transition 2
Comments: Not too bad. Got a little confused as to where the run exit was--pretty far from transition...because other people were sort of running around confused. I followed my instinct and got out of there just fine. Run
Comments: Legs felt like lead. Even when I tried to pick up the pace, I was struggling. It was pretty out, and I still had fun, except the hill--which sucked. I haven't been running hills as much as I usually do and I could tell! I can't believe my time was as fast as it shows, since really I tried to go faster but couldn't do it. What would you do differently?: Not run 10 miles a couple of days beforehand, practice hills. Post race
Warm down: Walked to bike, got my stuff, headed to my dad's hotel for breakfast. What limited your ability to perform faster: Tired legs! I don't think I did too bad, just wasn't at my top form today. Event comments: Very big race, lots of competitors! I think they did a great job with the course safety and keeping things flowing. It never felt overcrowded. Last updated: 2008-07-07 12:00 AM

Got there early, set up transition, wandered around with Liz chatting with people. The woman whose bike was next to mine asked me "what comes after the swim?". She was serious. She's the one whose bike fell over on mine, and later I noticed it had fallen over the other way. Yep.
We had to be out of transition way before the race started, so we just stood around. Finally got in the water and stretched a bit, got my face wet. Nerves acted up about five min before our wave started. I actually slept good last night, so this is ok, just five min of nerves.
