Pre-race routine:

Stayed at future sister in law's just up the road from the race site. Ate a Snicker's marathon bar and had a little coffee.

Go to a race that is marked and ALWAYS familiarize myself with a course before. If they don't want to tell me the course before I go out there, I'm not doing the race.

Let me just say -- something weird happened, because when results were first posted, it said that I did 11 minutes on the swim...then it changed to eight. It said Nick did 15 minutes on the swim and then 28 minutes on the run...now it says 12 minute swim and 31 minute run.

The race director did not apologize until we sent a number of emails regarding this issue and even then blamed the volunteer who was not in place. A simple sorry and acknowledgement that missing a turn is NOT OKAY would have been nice.

It's tough because we really wanted to love this race, but WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT>

Course: There is no way this was 1/4 mile. It's up on Mapmytri -- and the course we did was much further...I'd say it was 600-650 yards. It was strange...they sent a guy in a little rowboat out to the TINY buoy and he was completely blocking the buoy. The lake is STINKY and disguisting. Right before we started, I heard that there are leeches in there...great!

Not accurate at all.

Course: This was supposed to be a 14.2 mile course. There was no pre-race course map available, and so we weren't sure where we were going, and whether it was an out and back, or loops, or what. So, I went out and started riding...with my new aero bars! I was loving the race and doing my best bike ever... Things started to get confusing when we weren't turning. There was no volunteer, no sign, and no marking, at a CRUCIAL turn on the course...around mile 8. At mile 15-16 the whole group of riders around me almost hit Highway 18 in Kent-Auburn, and realized we needed to turn around... We got lost, and I got a flat at mile 18.5. I was at 1:04 at that time, which made for my best ride. I got a ride back and DNFed because we were already SCREWED ANYWAY!

Course: We have seen maps on mapmytri.com and mapped this course ourselves...there is NO WAY this is 3 miles. Every time we see it, it comes out as 2.49 miles...
