Swim
Comments: I was nervous for the swim going into it because I feel like over the past month or so I've become a lot worse at swimming. I've mostly been having a hard time with my breathing and timing. But I was tired and thought I was done about 15 mins into the race and still hadn't made it to the first buoy and that was a bit scary. But I talked myself into just swimming at a comfortable pace and just kept focusing on keeping my arms moving. What would you do differently?: Try and get more comfortable in the water and get back to how I was swimming a couple months ago. I am going to work on my breathing over the next couple months and see what happens at the next race. Transition 1
Comments: I thought it went really smoothly for my first transition ever. I laid everything out pretty well so it was quick to get going. I did stop for a bit to grab a bite to eat and drink out of a bottle which I probably could have done with out to cut down a little time. What would you do differently?: Not stop to drink and eat. Bike
Comments: I liked the bike course quite a bit because I've ridden in during some of my training rides which was helpful. Although I wish I would have pushed it a little more during this portion but I just didn't know how much I was going to have left for the run so I sat back a little bit. What would you do differently?: Push it more and trust that I've trained enough. I'm also going to look at my position on the bike and maybe make a few adjustments in my seat height and angle before my next race. Transition 2
Comments: It was a quick transition so I was happy with it. Run
Comments: I liked this run quite a bit. I hadn't run around this lake before but I think I am going to try and head over here more often. I've never been a good runner so I was really happy with my pace. But again I wasn't sure if I was going to hit a wall or not so I sat back I think a little too much and will push for a faster pace next race. What would you do differently?: Push harder and do some speed work before my next race. Post race
Event comments: My goal was just to finish the race, but I was really happy that I was under 3 hours as well. But for my first triathlon I was really happy with the results and looking forward to my next one! Last updated: 2008-07-12 12:00 AM

This was my first triathlon so my excitement and nerves had me up most of the night which I wasn't too happy about. However I got up and had a couple waffles with some peanut butter and a little powerade. I had everything packed up the night before and made it over to the course around 5:30.
I ended up parking my car a mile or so away from the start of the race so I was able to get a little bit of a ride on my bike which was nice to get the legs going. Then I jumped in the water for about 10 mins just to get a feel for the water and loosen up my shoulders.
