  • Comments: Well run larger race. Packet pickup the day before was easy and had a good info session. Race started on time, and my age group started about 2 minutes before the predicted time. Plenty of volunteers. Swim course is good, covers most of the lake that is relatively protected. Bike course has lots of potholes to avoid - this is the most needed improvement. Run course is good, mostly paved trail, and flat. The lap interchange is confusing for Sprint vs. Olympic. Good race medal, poor race shirt (black cotton). Good bike security procedures. Plan to do this race again in 2020.

  • Comments: I commend the race organizers for doing what they could when the weather did what it did. The post race food was just plain worthless. For an event that size that was very disappointing.

  • Comments: This is a wonderful race if you enjoy the bigger race atmosphere. With the size and effort put into it, you really feel like a rock star out there. It was also pretty sweet to see Matty Reed, Hunter Kemper, Cameron Dye among other top professionals as they were getting ready. The gear is nice, and the post-race festival and kids activities are top notch. I'll probably continue to do this race every year that I can!

  • Comments: The race was good. As usual they are tons of volunteers and it is well organized. The signage on the bike and run course is the best of any race out there. The race was more hectic for me personally, because my family came into town. It was great to have my sister do the race also. she said she enjoyed it. i just need to figure out a way to maintain a semblance of my routine, when they are here.

  • Comments: Really wish I had done better mentally. Was really pumped going into this race based on workout levels I've achieved in last 12 months. I do think the heat was a big factor on the run. I guess if I wasn't training so much it might have been a lot worse. Hard to tell. After sleeping on it, makes me want to work harder for the next race.

  • Comments: Overall a good race, just wasn't in the cards today. Didn't feel top notch this morning. Need more swim training, should have been much better. Work has been really busy the last several weeks with long days and weekends and I think I was just a little overtired. Diet during that stretch hasn't been the best and the training schedule has been a little heavy. Will look to do better next time.

  • Comments: A well-run race. Loved the numbered racks in the transition area. Made it stress-free to set up, and stress-free to find my bike after the swim. Only thing that could have been better would have been smoother roads, but there is nothing the race director can do about that, especially given that state and city funds for road repair are non-existent right now.

  • Comments: I had a 30 minute improvement over the same race last year. I was hoping for a better performance, but with the cramping i am not disappointed in my self. If i had not cramped and ran the same pace i ran 2 weeks ago then i would have finished 5 minutes faster, which was my goal. I think i am on pace to meet my seasons goals. I just have to stay on task with the training and keep motivated.

  • Comments: Awesome support. The entry fee is definitely worth the cost when you look at the number of volunteers and the amount of swag post-race. Greatly appreciate the volunteers and MPLS police out on the course!! Definitely will plan on this again next year.

  • Comments: Expensive, cheap finishers medal, almost prefer to not get one with the lack of thought that went into this one, that's about the only negatives for this event. Still had that hometown feel for a big race, but get there early if you'd like to park relativly close to the start/finish. Lake seemed clean and not too weedy. Bike roads are rough, but better than I remember them being during training.

  • Comments: This was a DNF effort. Crashed on the bike leg and suffered a third degree seperation. I wanted to put this back into my race list as it was a good race to start and I will b competing in it this year on a medical from last year. Great people and lots of help from the accident.

  • Comments: Maybe because I just did Hy-Vee and it was top notch, but I did not think much of this race. Expo was poorly run- long lines and I had to wait in 3 to get my packet, chip, and t-shirt. Very little info about race set-up. I did not know it was a TT swim start until the 3rd AG wave went off and I noticed I did not hear a horn any more. They kicked us out of transition 15 minutes prior to when I was told it would close before the race. Bike course was very tight and roads were a little rough. Run course was VERY tight for the number of people (running path around the lake). I (and others I noticed) missed the turn off for lap 2 (for the long course) and had to do a quick turn around to get on the correct path. The person telling you to go left was after the left turn. Overall, I was not very fond of this race and am pretty sure I will not be doing it again.

  • Comments: I rate this race a 4 only because of the terrible road conditions. This would be a fantastic race if the roads were repaved.

  • Comments: Great race (B race for me). Constructive criticism: More organized body-marking. Body-marking locations not clearly marked. Some lines were as long as 100 people. Some lines had 5. Wished I had known we could enter transition area WITHOUT body-marking. Would have reduced my stress level. I would've come back to body-marking after transition set-up. Overall, great course. Beautiful bike course, especially along and over the river. Will do again next year if I don't have to pay for the entry fee (sponsored this year). $125 - 150 is a bit much...:)

  • Comments: My age group is probably the toughest now. 30-39 Clydesdales. I was only 15 min off the top 5 grouping. I was 34 minutes from 1st place. The winner was really nice. He racked his bike next to mine. He was 34 and weighed 210lbs. He did great, but if I were to add 65lbs to him, I could beat him. I am going to really focus on diet and training and place in the top 5 next year along with my buddy John, who had a poor event due to a newborn baby, moving home to MN from Michigan, and starting a new job. Next year we will do great and push each other.
