Pre-race routine:

Drove to site, got set up, etc.
Event warmup:

None. Meant to go for short run, but forgot.
Swim
  • 17m 49s
  • 750 yards
  • 02m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

For crappy swimmers like me, the change in distance without notice was not good. I went out much faster than I would have if I would have known it was a 750. The cold water (water temps are >80 where I live) messed my breathing up early, but was nice after the first 50 or so.

Still turning left near the end badly. I think my left arm must be getting tired near the end and not pulling hard enough.
What would you do differently?:

Not much I could have done differently. Keep swimming more.
Transition 1
  • 01m 34s
Comments:

Had a little problem standing up to get my shoes on, but not bad.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 34m 44s
  • 13 miles
  • 22.46 mile/hr
Comments:

My performance was good, but I ran into a couple of guys that wouldn't pick a pace. They kept leapfrogging with me and the 2nd place female. She really had a hard time getting away from them (she was competing, none of us guys were). Thankfully, we didn't get penalties, but it was really frustrating to have people pass then not keep the pace. I finally found a little hill and attacked until they didn't keep up.

Also, the police stopped a line of cars at an intersection and one car parked on the shoulder, bringing 3-4 of us to a complete stop.
What would you do differently?:

Attack earlier, once they wouldn't hold pace.
Transition 2
  • 00m 38s
Comments:

Great T2
Run
  • 22m
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, not great. Started slowing down at about the 1.5 mile turnaround, and got passed. Used the passer as a rabbit for about 1/2 mile then passed him back and kept increasing lead.
What would you do differently?:

Not much
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

OWS technique, stopped cars on course

Event comments:

Course distances changed with no notice(750 swim instead of 600, 13 mile bike instead of 14), stopped cars on the course, no sign at the last bike turn (ended up in a parking lot), promised post-race food was gone, and NO final time posted due to a computer error. Definitely not the best run tri.
