Run
Comments: Sara and I took off pretty quick. She usually runs on the leash till we go about a half mile but today she was supposed to run with me the whole time. This worked good for the first mile but we came upon some geese (?, lost canadians) in the second mile and i just let go of the leash and let her chase. She caught back up to me and we made her loop twice then headed back. She also swam a little. Passed Marcy at 1.5 mark and waved. It was very hot but we pushed in. At the end of mile 3, I backed down and just thought about Christine. This is my fourth season on here and I think she was here early on. We exchanged post about races in the Mississippi area. I recall she had relatives there and maybe grew up there. I also really enjoyed her race reports, always a laugh to be had. She was one of the awesome jockstraps at IMFL in 2006 and I fondly remember her and Kathy chasing us around all day. If you haven't done an ironman, its hard to explain how good it is to have people pulling for you while your out there and spectating at an ironman is not an easy day. I am really pleased to be part of this special commmunity. I don't post as much as i used too but I still feel like alot of the folks on here are family and am very proud of how so many folks were out there doing this race today. Thanks again to both the actual race organizer and the Virtual Race Directors. This was a clever way to raise funds and also a good way to let us rejoice in Christine's life. Post race
Warm down: Walked about half mile back to the car. Event comments: Oh, Sara beat me by 1 second and Marcy finished in 38:11. Marcy kept going and did 7 miles on her swollen ankle Last updated: 2008-07-16 12:00 AM

Worked all day, most of it in the restaurant gearing up for a big weekend.
Sent warm thoughts to Christine and her family. My wife Marcy and our dog Sara were all doing the run. Marcy twisted her ankle badly Tuesday but wanted to get back at it today, but not fast. Sara and I wanted to break 30 minutes for Christine.
