Swim
Comments: This is the most fun I've had in any swim course. First of all, I could see more than 2 feet!!! I've gotten used to swimming in not so clean water training in NYC; this environment felt like paradise. For the first time, i didn't find myself taking an accidental gulp of water. It's ironic because it was actually clean enough to do so! I clocked a PR for the swim=) What would you do differently?: I started the race off breathing from both sides and noticed that I swam significantly faster. However, the moment I get spooked or fatigued, I revert to breathing on one side. I would like to be able to sustain breathing on both sides for the entire duration of the swim course. Transition 1
Comments: What can I say...it looks like I took my sweet time. Plenty of room to improve. What would you do differently?: Everything!!! Bike
Comments: Remind me to shoot the person in charge of marketing the event...It's NOT flat=) I've come to realize that I need more TITS!!! Lots and lots of TITS!!! I usually train close to home and the terrain is FLAT. Any occurence of hills immediately kill my legs. It is so bad that I've considered hanging a sign on my back warning people...."SLOW MOVING TURD..PLEASE PASS!!!!" And yes, my cycling style of hanging back a little has given me quite the experience when it comes to checking out tri bikes. I get passed so often that I now consider myself a subject matter expert on hot looking tri bikes! Likewise, I can now identify the type of bike and components used just from the sound...as they approach me from behind=) Let me tell you, those Cervelo's are MAD SEXY. Hey, I need something to pass the time=p What would you do differently?: I will incorporate more TITS as part of my training regiment. I've realized that long "fun" rides where the average speed is 6mph will not cut it as part of a competitive training regimen. On the bright side, I've increased my average speed by 10 MPH!!! Transition 2
Comments: Ok, ok I was a sloth once again.... What would you do differently?: Everything! Next time maybe do everything a lot faster=p Run
Comments: First of all, I never liked running. I have learned to embrace it...now I love it! Granted I'm not where I want to be just yet..I'm happy with my progress. I set a PR for the run! Great run course! ....did i mention? It's nice and flat!=p What would you do differently?: With more training and endurance experience, I plan to run harder and faster! Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Irresistible view=), lack of TITS! Event comments: Worth the epic journey it took to get there from NY. I have to thank my swim buddy for convincing me to join the ride=) Last updated: 2008-07-27 12:00 AM

Half a bagel, peanut butter, protein bar, banana, plenty of water. Please note that this was a fluke in my pre-race nutrition habit. I usually scarf down my left-overs from the night before. Not good at all.
5-10 minute swim at the start area.
