Run
Comments: was not prepared for a du, so was happy to see my time of that 5K wich is a PR for me...legs were not happy to do a bike ride after the 5K and started to protest. What would you do differently?: nothing, the slow start approach served me well. I didn't have to walk and was keeping my form. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: practice with legs full of lactic acid Bike
Comments: the Cytomax i made was too concentrated, i had to stop drinking cauz it was messing up with my stomach. My legs were already beaten from the run, not used to bike after a run ;) What would you do differently?: bike more, take nuun insted of Cytomax Transition 2
Comments: Some guy made a mistake and put his bike on the ladies rack and in my spot!!! maybe he liked my shoes but found out they weren't his size ;) lost some time trying to figure out what to do. Some nice volonteers pushed away his bike so i could fit mine. What would you do differently?: try to practice the coasting and getting on/off the bike while the legs are stiff ...why was i so good as a kid and now so unable to do it?! Run
Comments: at this point, i was just trying to finish the thing so it was the walk/run way to the finish. I was able to kinda run the last 200m but no surge of energy like usual...so i really gave it my all this time ;) What would you do differently?: nothing...didn't have nothing left in the legs Post race
Warm down: walked a bit and talked with team mates. ate a bit...things got bad about an hour after: Huge headache, nausea, intolerance to light and dizzyness made the trip to get to a family event hell. I was afraid that i would mess that event by having to go lie down or worse...it was a close call. Event comments: Doing a ill prepared duathon in the midday heat is not for me. I am glad to see that i have now the fitness to do it, but it took all i had. 2 years ago i would have had to drop out. I will maybe try a du at the start of the season in early may but not in august if i can help it! Kudos to all the duathletes, you are tough! I managed a 5K PR wich is great so a good experience to learn more about myself and the sport! Last updated: 2008-08-01 12:00 AM

eggs-toast-coffee and (bacon) made by my darling hubby. Since my start was at 13:15 i had a cliff bar an hour before the start of my forced duathlon
river was rated D so no swimming allowed...sigh. i was lucky enough to find out the day before, some competitors found out on the site of the race.
bit of strides and jumping in place to get the nerves under control...didn't work that well.
