Total Time = 8h 30m
Overall Rank = 155/192
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 17/18
Event warmup:

Rode the bike for about a mile, swam for a few yards.
Swim
  • 27m 6s
  • 880 yards
  • 03m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

I couldn't catch my breath; my calves cramped up, forcing me to swim a modified backstroke; my suit was too constrictive in the arm movements; I veered off course several times due to not being able to see from my back.
What would you do differently?:

Everything. Use a different wetsuit, stretch my calves better, and make sure I'm hydrated.
Transition 1
  • 04m 28s
Comments:

Was very dizzy coming out of the water, couldn't run very fast to transition area. Other than that, it was ok.
What would you do differently?:

Roll the swim cap off instead of trying to pull it.
Bike
  • 47m 3s
  • 14 miles
  • 17.85 mile/hr
Comments:

A good ride overall.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe try to spin a little faster on the flats. And put some Vaseline on my taint to prevent abrasion soreness after swimming in salty water.
Transition 2
  • 01m 57s
Comments:

This felt like it went pretty fast and smooth.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing that I can think of.
Run
  • 29m 27s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

It was pretty hot and there wasn't any shade. My shins were still sore from the previous week which limited my pace.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure I'm totally healed before the race. And put Vaseline on my nipples before the race to prevent abrasion soreness.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to transition area to gather my stuff.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I couldn't catch my breath on the swim; my calves cramped up on the swim; my shins were still sore during the run.

Event comments:

The race was well organized; the course was well marked and there were tons of volunteers directing traffic and cheering everyone on.

Somehow I got put into the 30-34 age group even though I'm 29...oh well.
