Total Time = 1h 32m 54s
Overall Rank = 201/562
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 20/42
Pre-race routine:

Half bagel, bananna, coffee early
1 gu 20 minutes before race (did one on bike as well)
Event warmup:

not much - swam about 50 yards, a little streching
Swim
  • 16m 46s
  • 830 yards
  • 02m 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

Actual swim time was 16:00 - did first 200 in 3:18 - was shooting for 3:15 so I was pumped. Seemed to wilt a little at @550- got it back for last 100 and felt really good coming out.
What would you do differently?:

Find a way to replicate open water in pool - I try not to touch walls and/or keep breathing the same but doesn't get me ready for this much straight swimming.
Transition 1
  • 02m 38s
Comments:

doing too much and not quick enough - I wear gloves (which must stop) and HRM - was frustrated that it was taking as long as it did.
What would you do differently?:

Practice - my socks were with running shoes (nto bike), where to put the gel (looking for a pocket on my tri-shorts before sticking it up my leg) much room for improvement.
Bike
  • 45m 24s
  • 12.6 miles
  • 16.65 mile/hr
Comments:

Feel pretty good about this ride - I think I am at the end of the line with my hybrid.
What would you do differently?:

I feel like I could always push harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Missed the bike on initial hang but other than that pretty good
What would you do differently?:

Run
  • 26m 58s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

I dedicate the least amount of training to running (for injury avoidance) so I can't be anything other than accepting off this time.
What would you do differently?:

build a better base earlier - I have a difficult time keeping my training runs easy early and usually pay with assorted nagging "injuries" that limits training closer to the race.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I felt the result where in line with the amount and quality of training.

Event comments:

My second event (the other being this race in 07) and I improved in every category with overall improvement of 2:54 so I was happy with this effort.

Need to do more races for practice of both technical and mental aspects.
