Swim
Comments: I pretty much ignored swim training in July and August and I paid for it. Not only was I slow, but I came out of the water completely spent. To my suprise, when I was running up the chute people were yelling "you're 6th out of the water, you're 6th out of the water!!". For a few seconds I let myself believe they were actually yelling this at me and not the woman next to me who started in the wave three minutes behind. What would you do differently?: train Transition 1
Comments: i was so tired from the swim i sat down for the first time ever to get the wetsuit off. Bike
Comments: fun, rolling bike course. Took a good while to get the HR down out of transition. Drank about 3 1/2 bottles of water and took 3 gels. good pace. Transition 2
Comments: good transition, 11th overall. had a little trouble finding my spot and getting my bike in the box rack. Run
Comments: finally put together a decent Olympic run. Very hilly course. The hill out of the park in mile 2 was extremely steep. I decided to walk a bit to settle my heart rate which was jacked. I think this was a good call as i went on to have a great run and finished strong. Post race
Warm down: Hannah gave me a shower. Event comments: http://www.compuscore.com/cs2008/sept/genmini.htm Last updated: 2008-08-11 12:00 AM

This was not a race against my other competitors, the clock, or myself. It was a race against Hannah, the tropical storm coming up the coast.
Based on the weather reports, i did not think there was any chance we were having this race all week, but sure enough, we got it in. And we finished just in time.
looked at the sky and wondered if we were really gonna do this.
