Pre-race routine:

John, Nicole and I left for the race at 5:00 a.m. Perfect arrival time. Just before the huge crowds started. Carl, Mom, Dave, Michele, Alyssa, Ashley, Scott and Alyssa came out to cheer us on.

Surprisingly, I was not nervous at the start at all. Just went out there and got it done. I was feeling a little fatigued by the home stretch.

Work more on speed.

I was still out of breath from the swim when I jumped on the bike. I was not going to wait until my breathing slowed. Eh, pass out on the first hill, who cares? ;-)

I felt nauseous before the half way point. I was trying really hard, even though it was slow compared to most others.

Work on speed.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Knee injury from end of January that was 85% recovered at race day. Prevented more intense training and longer distances.

Event comments:

I didn't have high expectations, since my training has been limited by my knee injury. But I gave this race my all and it felt great. A definate bonus that I shaved nearly 9 minutes off my time from last year. Feels good.
