Swim
Comments: this was more than twice the distance i've ever done in a race before. i was near the back of my wave, but not last, there were some people from the next wave that passed me, but i also caught up with some people from the wave before me. i'm not a great swimmer, and my goal was to just get through it, and i did. i'm happy with my time (especially since i figured on it being about twice that LOL) What would you do differently?: be a better swimmer. :) Transition 1
Comments: i was parked as absolutely far as i could have been from everything. i DID run from the water to my bike, but it was just so dang far away! i sorta wished i'd had some flip flops or something, as my feet are pretty wimpy, but it was fine. What would you do differently?: can't really think of anything, i'm pretty happy with how things turned out. Bike
Comments: oh. my. gosh. this is the most fun a person can have on two wheels. i LOVED this bike course! my bike performed GREAT. i couldn't have been happier. going through the tunnel was the most fun, the view from the bridge was AWESOME especially with the sunrise and the clouds and stuff. i didn't have any trouble on the big uphill part, i know people were stopping and stuff, but i got lucky and just blasted right up. it was SWEET (have i mentioned that i love that bike?!?) i did see the chick that wrecked, on my way back, the emt's were sitting with her and he neck was in a brace, but she was sitting up, and she looked like she was talking to them, so i assumed she was all right. loved loved loved the bike!! What would you do differently?: NOTHING!! it freaking ROCKED! Transition 2
Comments: had trouble getting my bike back on the rack, just wasn't as much room there, i had to kind of push the bike next to mine just a tad to make a spot then wrestled my bike back up, but it was a pretty ugly and awkward maneuver. anyway, then i booked it over the the run start, and i felt pretty good about that too. What would you do differently?: be less clumsy? yeah, that'd be nice. Run
Comments: ran more of it than i expected to, before when i've raced the bike has so sucked all my energy out that i end up walking a LOT of it. but this time, i was pretty much ok. not very fast, my average is about 2 minutes/mile faster than that, but whatever, it was fun. it was starting to get pretty hot by then, so i was quite warm, the fellas at the bottom of the big hill before the end, drumming a beat, i found amusing and charming, until i started up the hill, then i wanted to run back and kiss them all LOL that was rad. What would you do differently?: try to run more of it. Post race
Warm down: ran through, fought through a mob just to get some air, my mom and my sister were bawling, which sorta cracked me up, chugged a LOT of water, was feeling super dehydrated. What limited your ability to perform faster: i can't really think of anything, this is a pr for me. :) next one will be even better!! Event comments: this was hands down the FUNNEST race i've ever done. and my first time to BREAK 2 HOURS!!! i didn't know my time until actually like 10 hours after the race, because of my stupid watch, but i was really really hoping it would be under two hours, and IT WAS!!!! this was epic for me. i had fun, i raced well, i broke 2 hours, i couldn't be happier. i don't know if i'll do danskin again or not, but i had the absolute best time ever today. watched the lightning with my 8 year old for a while, then drove to the park. walked about a mile just to GET to the park, but whatever. i set up my stuff, watched the elites start, then went back to my spot where i saw lynne and kym.
ran like a chicken to the start, because i lost track of time, and almost missed my wave. LOL
