Pre-race routine:

Wake up at 4:30, eat 2 whole wheat waffles, one cup of coffee, large glass of water and load the car before waking up my wife and 2 kids to go to the race.
Event warmup:

Ran a quick 1/2 mile to loosen up and then swam 200 meters to get the shoulders loose.

It took a little time to get my breathing down and to get into a groove and just as I did, a truck tried to run a few of us off the road. This took me a few minutes to get settled and get back into my groove

Not have a truck swerve at me!!!

I really felt slow on this whole run! I never got into the groove. My breathing was off, I felt slow, I was hot and just not feeling good.
What would you do differently?:

Not play golf and drink beer on the friday before a race.

Warm down:

grabbed some drinks and food with the family and cheered other racers to the finish.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My job and booking a big customer on the golf course.

Event comments:

This is a great race for a mini sprint. It was my first race years ago and I will continue to do it as long as I race.
