Run
Comments: I actually did a lot better than I expected. I had given up all hope of even attempting to come in below an hour because of my knee. I didn't even know if I could manage a 10:00/mile pace. Started off fairly conservative and once I got going, I just really wanted to push it. Got warm and shed a layer plus the gloves and finally the headband. The back half, just made it my goal to pass as many people as possible. Knee held up well, was feeling good throughout. I definitely have lost a bit of cardio endurance, but that will come back quickly. I haven't run a mile straight since October, let alone 6! Picked up the pace around the halfway point, and once I got over the bridge, I just let it go - last sprint/final kick through the last couple hundred yards. What would you do differently?: Besides not being injured? Nothing else I could have done. Post race
Warm down: Caught my breath, got some water and some cookies. Cheered in a couple of friends, and then met up with Allison. Walked back and went to Silver Diner! I am so proud of her - she ran the entire thing and did great! What limited your ability to perform faster: Coming back after an injury. Not having been able to run on a good pace for the past 2+ months. Had been hoping to go 9:30/mile for the first half and 9:00ish/mile for the last half. But considering my injury, I did as well as I could. Event comments: Great little winter race - low-key, close to home and cookies afterwards are always a plus! Lots of people in crazy costumes, a good one to just have fun with. Last updated: 2008-09-08 12:00 AM

Got up, ate pb/jelly half sandwich and some water. Picked up Allison and drove downtown.
Walking from parking spot to the race was enough.
