Swim
Comments: My swim is obviously the my weakest discipline. Despite plenty of training it all fell apart on the day... The time says it all. What would you do differently?: Concentrate more on my own stroke. Transition 1
Comments: T1 was very slow because I was overly tired from the swim. Bike
Comments: Felt OK for most of the bike leg, ran out of water on the last return leg. What would you do differently?: Bring more water Transition 2
Comments: Feeling good off the bike... Run
Comments: The run is normally my strongest discipline, but it all fell apart here. After having done a 1:52 for a half-mary 2 weeks before it just didn't happen for me on the day. Walked a very large part of the course. Post race
Event comments: Up until 2 weeks before the race I was feeling great and just going into my taper. Then I had to return home for my Dad's 60th birthday. I live in Singapore and my family is in Australia, so it was not an insignificant trip. Then not getting down there that oftem means everyone wants a piece of me and I hardly got any training in at all. Then the week before the race, I arrive home only to be hit by the flu which knocks me down for the four days immeadiately before the race. Only a double dose of anti-histamines on race morning makes it possible to breathe through my nose. It didn't help eaither that I got only 3 hours sleep that night. Of course the poor prep in the last 2, compunded by getting the flu before the race and lack of sleep the night before sapped me of energy and confidence. Anyway, completed the race (my first) and have a benchmark for the next. Last updated: 2008-09-09 12:00 AM
