  • Comments: I think the race was well organised and stuff. But the expo was crap, the volunteers were plentiful but not quite trained as well as they could have been. I paid for an extra event shirt that I didn't get, and the merchandise was not available on the Friday and all that sort of thing...

  • Comments: I think they had copped some criticism in the past regarding route and organisation. IMO they responded well and everything ran really smoothly on the day. Baggage drop off was excellent, transition check in and briefings all smooth and the course was well marshalled and signed.

  • Comments: This was my first HIM and I expected a lot of unexpected things to happen on race day. Unfortunately, I wasn't really sure how to tackle any of this since I was in uncharted territory. My first goal was to finish the race and everything else was a bonus. I had a great time & really learned a lot about my body and racing at this distance. It's a completely differnt beast than racing an Oly.. I've had a lot of help on BT & my MG (thank you all!), but sometimes you have to find out the hard way to learn what has been preached ;). Only thing left to do is learn from my mistakes, impletment the changes, and execute on my next HIM!!! any suggestions for my next HIM????? :)

  • Comments: First off, a big thank you to my wife and girls. They have been totally supportive during my selfish extended training sessions. They are the major reason I had a good race. While I probably pushed myself too hard during the race, I did collect some great data points for IMSA. 33kph is too fast for me on the bike for 180k. I will target the first 2 hours of IMSA at 31 to 32 kph and then see how it goes. For the run at IMSA, I will start with 9 min/miles and if after 10 miles things feel good then I can pick up the pace. All in all, despite being very sore, I had a good race and learned some important things for IMSA. I'll try and upload some photo in the coming days.

  • Comments: I will do this one again if I am around for it. It's the largest race in Asia for a reason. Very well run, good course, and good activities.

  • Comments: It was quite well organized on the whole. The course was better than previous year but could have been wider for the bike.

  • Comments: Up until 2 weeks before the race I was feeling great and just going into my taper. Then I had to return home for my Dad's 60th birthday. I live in Singapore and my family is in Australia, so it was not an insignificant trip. Then not getting down there that oftem means everyone wants a piece of me and I hardly got any training in at all. Then the week before the race, I arrive home only to be hit by the flu which knocks me down for the four days immeadiately before the race. Only a double dose of anti-histamines on race morning makes it possible to breathe through my nose. It didn't help eaither that I got only 3 hours sleep that night. Of course the poor prep in the last 2, compunded by getting the flu before the race and lack of sleep the night before sapped me of energy and confidence. Anyway, completed the race (my first) and have a benchmark for the next.

  • Comments: SO – that’s how I won the CEO Challenge at the Ironman Singapore 70.3. I won it with a time of 5:21:07, and was a bit surprised to learn that I finished fourth in my age group (M45-49) out of 76 racers. I missed a third-place podium finish by only 46 seconds, but I qualified for the ITU 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, FL. Having qualified for the Ironman World Championships in Kona with the CEO win, however, I don’t feel bad that I let the Half-Ironman Championship slot roll down. http://www.ceochallenges.com/news/2007/09/01/kylberg-wins-kona-slot...
