Pre-race routine:

Went over with Ken about 6:45. Got to the race and found out the swim had been canceled, replaced with a short beach run.

Comments:

Just a short beach run- maybe 0.5 to 0.75 miles across mostly soft sand. I was in the last wave with the other relay "swimmers." The soft sand was tough- spiked my HR in the first couple hundred yards.

Disappointing that the swim was canceled, but it was the right call.

Very fast run for me.. I think this was a 10K PR.. nice running from the back and catching up to people.

Just felt good and steady the whole race.

Event comments:

We didn't get official results for our race, so my times are based on my own watch- this was the first time for me there had been such a problem- don't know if it was a chip problem or what.

This race was WAY too expensive ($140 for EACH relay participant) for what it offered, but it goes to a good cause..
