  • Comments: This is a really nice race in a family friendly area put on with assistance from the Columbia Tri Assoc. I didn't have a very good race either mentally or physically, but the event itself was well done as always and it has some of the best post-race grub of any tri that I do, plus all the beer you can drink!! ;-)

  • Comments: A very-well organized event; can't control for the weather so there really wasn't much that the organizers could do given the ocean conditions. I was surprised at how small the race was, although a lot of registered racers may have dropped out when the swim was cancelled (or when they saw the weather report).

  • Comments: It seems like the organizers got it right after last year's train wreck. The ironic part is that for the last 2 years the race was held on a Sunday. If they did that this year, the ocean would have been flat and there was no wind. Oh well- it's always a gamble with ocean swims. This is the 4th year I've done this race and only had to swim twice.

  • Comments: Other than the swim being cancelled this was a good race. I am a little bit better at the shorter/faster stuff as I can use my strength on the bike without taking too much out of my run because the distances aren't long enough to sap everything. I am happy with the performance overall as I really do not think I could have gone any faster throughout. I'm just a little disappointed that I was so close to the podium and couldn't pull it out. Not surprising, out of the top 13 (they did not have a 13th place person in the field on the timing sheet that I could find, just 12th and then me listed as 14th) there were 5 people from the M35-39 age group! Man I'm in a tough field!

  • Comments: We didn't get official results for our race, so my times are based on my own watch- this was the first time for me there had been such a problem- don't know if it was a chip problem or what. This race was WAY too expensive ($140 for EACH relay participant) for what it offered, but it goes to a good cause..

  • Comments: I give this race a "2" because of the bike leg. Advertising an Olympic race and delivering a 7-mile bike leg is unacceptable. Otherwise, it was fine, although unremarkable. Post-race picnic was a nice event. Nothing really special about the bike or run course--along a highway. I certainly wouldn't consider the race again until they get the permits sorted out. And even then, it's a long way to travel (5 hrs) for a race that's just ok. I'm glad it was for a good cause, and I'm happy I was able to raise some money for make-a-wish, but, unless I had friends who were participating, or something, I don't think I'd do this race again.
