Pre-race routine:

Up early, early, early. Time changed to Daylight Savings, and we had already lost an hour coming from Central Time. So, 5:00 a.m. felt like 3:00 a.m. Ugh. Sipped some coffee, got dressed, and boarded the shuttle.
Event warmup:

A very long walk in the dark from the Epcot parking lot to the starting area. We were still in place about 40 minutes before the start, and I was freezing. So, I actually did a warmup. Stepped out of the corral, ran a bit, and then did some striders. It was funny because since I had put 2:15 down as my finish time, I was in corral A right at the front. I felt like a rock star! But based on my rank both overall and in my division, there were a lot of people new to the sport and distance. And I think a lot of people just had fun with all the Disney princess characters positioned around the course.

Comments:

(So, it seems that my foot pod is not calibrated right and measuring distances long. [Although, I don't think it's so far off as to measure what should be 13.1 miles as over 14.5, but whatever.] That means, I'm not running as fast as I thought.)

Being in the very front of such a large race was a novelty and gave me the opportunity for a strong start. I was able to immediately settle into what felt like a strong pace and pretty much maintained it until the very end. It was a beautiful day, especially when the sun came up and the chill wore off. It got a bit warm, but I thought it felt good...and as long as the humidity stays away, it doesn't bother me.

I thoroughly enjoyed all the Disney characters on the course and all the different costumes a lot of the runners wore. I only stopped to get my picture taken at Cinderella's castle. I didn't bring a camera, so couldn't stop for the others, but I waved.

The last couple of miles started to get tough as I began to flag. I probably lost about a minute there. I just couldn't keep my legs moving as fast as I wanted to.
What would you do differently?:

Train more consistently and seriously leading up to the race. This really is a setup (starting from the first corral) and a course that I can take advantage of and run a PR.
Post race
Warm down:

Nada.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough running. Getting faster means running more and running faster.

Event comments:

I just like doing races at Disney. And this race really was a lot of fun. It's a keeper.
