Run
Comments: Very, very crowded, you could run in 2 lanes up until about mile 2 when the leaders were allready coming back in so we had 3-4k people stuffed into one lane. It took about 3 miles for me to even get some free space to run without dodging everyone else. Sam and I had decided that we would run together and that neither of us felt overly great that morning. Was great running with her, I probably would have just stayed at the 9:00 pace I ran for the first 3 miles if she wasn't there because just wasn't feelin it for this race. Once we got clear we seemed to be able to open up the legs a bit more and ran the last few miles about 8:20ish pace. LOL, I was debating whether or not to see if I could out sprint her to the finish but I decided that A. she could probably out sprint me and B. it would be nicer if I suggested we hold hands across the finish line... What would you do differently?: Nothing really, could have run faster probably but it was alot of fun just to be out there. Post race
Warm down: Sweat started to freeze to the body so jogged back to the car, picked up some starbucks and got home because we were paying 20/hr for a baby sitter. Slake, 3558 and Shelly stopped by later to use our bathroom, and dropped my jacket off. Took the kids to Mr. Donalds (mcdonalds) to play in the playroom and ate some awful food. Event comments: Race was ok but personally I didn't care for the crowd, would have been nice to do a loop instead of out and back but I guess the mileage just didn't work for that. Had relatives over the night before, ate chili, not normally my night before a race meal but I figured it wouldn't be a problem...
Woke up the next morning with a few GI issues that luckilly cleared up before we got to the race : )
Parked at the Pentagon and jogged over to the race site, it was butt-ass cold. I had an extra jacket and an extra pair of gloves on top of another jacket and gloves.
Met up with the BT crew. Put my santa hat on and got ready to run.
