Pre-race routine:

woke up, changed T1's diaper, held him while he slept in my arms for about half an hour, then got ready to go after eating some cornflakes and drinking some coffee!! arrived and got my packet and found some donks right away!!! inlaws showed up right after that.
Event warmup:

went out and ran two miles, stretched and did some accelerations. changed into running shoes.

Comments:

wanted to go out at a controlled pace, was hoping for right around 7ish. no idea what it ended up being as there was no one mile marker. sherpa said i was faster than that tho.........i do know that at the two mile i was at 13:11, then 3 mile at 19:31, four at 26:33, five not sure of. 10K split i think was 'round 43 or so..........9 mile at 58:30, thats all i can remember cuz im old. all in all i felt it was a good effort, didnt leave too much out there. congrats to shmizey for guttin out a tuff race while have a bigtime cold (*sniffle, sniffle*) and also to Iwanna (aidana) for completing her very very first ever half mary!!!!

Event comments:

they get good marks for finishers medals (tho they ran out) and the post race activities were way cool (mainly cuz of donks), but lose MAJOR points on poor course markings (actually saw about five guys in front of me cut, not on purpose im sure, just due to confusion). the water spot at around mile 5, the two peeps there were just standing there, i feel they shouldve been handing the cups out........am i being too critical????

Course: one big loop. hills for the first 4-5 miles (me likey the hills!!). very windy (brutal) in some spots (me no likey the wind!). coming past the five mile mark we ran onto a wide open road with nothing blocking the wind. some guy is closing behind me, then tucks in behind ME and tries drafting....took me all of about five seconds to think that was a bunch of crapola, so i shifted over to let him have some of that wind too (i was actually gonna tuck in behind him and draft). we ended up forming an alliance and worked the next 7 miles together.
