Pre-race routine:

k treated us to a room at the race hotel. it was a nice perk to wake up and just walk over to the start
Event warmup:

walked around w/k and and then jogged to my corral.

Comments:

i didn't really have any goals. i was counting this as my speedwork for the week so i just wanted to put out a good effort. i also wanted to beat mayor fenty as we have a bit of an unofficial competition going on. i say unofficial because he doesn't even know it's happening. :)

i never expected to feel so good and actually come close to my 10-mile pr. i pushed it comfortably for the first half. once i saw that i had a good pace going, i pushed the final 5 for a negative split. i caught mayor fenty ~mile 7 so i knew if i could stay with him or drop him i would take the win.

i jumped on a few fast runners for the last 3 miles and pushed it. i loved the downhill and turn for the finish line. the crowd comes out of nowhere. it was definitely a great run.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

i stretched, went to the bathroom, and cheered people on looking for anyone i knew and waiting for k to finish. i got to see k right after she pr'd and crossed the line!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

riding the seagull century the day before.

Event comments:

very organized for the number of runners. especially the start. very well done. i would definitely do the race again.
