Swim
Comments: Right goggle filled with water mid-swim, switched breathing to every-two strokes. What would you do differently?: Not have my goggle fill with water and not stub my toe getting in the water. Transition 1
Comments: Transition was ok, took a couple trys getting my left foot in my toehold after mounting bike. What would you do differently?: Make sure I dry off my feet completely. Bike
Comments: Got caught up a couple times on turns and u-turns because of slower people in front of me. Wore running shoes with bike toeholds. What would you do differently?: Eat a gel pack earlier, maybe drink some more gatorade. Definitely use a road bike instead of a mountain bike with shocks! Transition 2
Comments: Nothing much to say about this transition. Jumped off bike, racked it, took off my helmet, took a swig of gatorade at my bike, and took off "running". What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: After about 0.5 miles, I felt some blisters forming on the arches of both my feet. Never has this happened before, but oh well, it happened. Made the rest of the run on the outsides of my feet. I was on a bit of a run-walk-run-walk-run pattern cause I was a bit bushed by now! But I finished ok, I think! What would you do differently?: Make sure my feet were fully dried off when I got out of the swimming portion. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and strethed a bit. Took off my shoes as quickly as possible! What limited your ability to perform faster: Blisters on my arches, not training enough, lack of a road bike! Event comments: This was my first triathlon in 8-9 years and I thought it was really well done. I had a great time, exhausting as it was. :) Last updated: 2008-10-12 12:00 AM
