Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4 am, ate a bagel with almond butter, and drank a cup of coffee with hot cocoa mix. Made an 8 ounce bottle of infinit and filled another amphipod bottle with water. I LOVE my amphipod, and I hate trying to drink at aid stations. Drove the 2 hours to Spokane, and found a parking spot about a mile from the race start. It was about 43 degrees when I parked, so I didn't wear my light jacket.
Event warmup:

Ran to the yellow section race start (Bloomsday has color coded sections based on race times). Then, I got in line for the port a potty.

Comments:

Not a whole lot to say. I went into this knowing I was just there to have fun, and I did. There were a couple tough moments going uphill, but my inner coach showed up to talk me through it, and I was glad to have her back! I hadn't realized she'd been away for awhile until she showed back up today. I welcomed her back, and got on with my run (yes, I do talk to myself when I run, call myself baby, all of that and more) ;). I cheered for the street entertainment, slapped hands with kids on the side of the road, and enjoyed the energy of the day. Poured a cup of water over my head at mile 6.5, and it felt great. Yes, even though it was only 50 degrees. I overheat easily, and I'm not sure what will happen if it is ever truly hot during one of my races. Finished the race about 4 minutes slower than last year, but I'm OK with that. Just had fun!!!
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Warm down:

walked over to t-shirt pick up, then walked the mile back to my car. Picked up a cheeseburger and a caramel machiatto on my way over to my parents house. Took a shower, and then took Mom to the baby shower for my new great-neice. Fun day!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

HIM training, 10 lbs heavier than last year, and marathon recovery (not really sure I can still use that as an excuse, since it was 4 weeks ago).

Event comments:

Fun race, but you have to love a crowd! :)
