What would you do differently?: Start out slower when unsure of conditioning / injury. Post race
Warm down: Stumbled across the finish. Got my finisher's medal. To the water bottles. Downed one. Waved to wife. Stumbled to the bananas. Downed one. Saw coach. Got my reflective cape thingy & lunch bag with drink tickets. Found my wife and went down near the tent. She got me a beer. I went into the water knee deep (ice bath?) thought about a celebratory swim, but thought that would be a stupid way to die. Had some salty (yum!) stew and drank 3 more beers and off we went. 4 beers in 43 minutes! What limited your ability to perform faster: Ravaged with injuries for the since March 1. Started too fast. Bad night sleeping. Woke up at 5:30 for 8:00 start. Ate bagel and two bananas, drink 3/4 of a gatorade, and a couple of sips of water. One more banana at 6:30, after a hot shower.
Jogged down to the start line (1/4 mile)and back to hotel with knee brace on and off. Decided for no knee brace. Talked to fellow runners and posed for pics.
