Swim
Comments: I really jacked this up. Swim speed seemed OK, but I was all over the place. Ended up way inside the buoys a couple of times on the way out. Was confused by end buoys, and still way off course on the way back in. At one point got goggles knocked off and swallowed some water. Couldn't really draft well with no people around. Still 2 1/2 minutes better than 2 years ago. What would you do differently?: Sight! It was sort of choppy and hard to see, but needed to raise head to sight much more often. Also need to make sure I understand the course before start. Transition 1
Comments: Tried leaving shoes on bike for first time (with rubber bands). This worked pretty well, especially with muddy transition exit that I didn't want to run through with either socks or shoes on. What would you do differently?: Get going a little faster before trying to get feet into shoes. Bike
Comments: Had to be a bit cautious on turns with rain. But kept wattage pretty consistent. Ran out of fluids. About 4 minutes better than 2 years ago. What would you do differently?: Not much. Get into shoes smoother and faster. Carry additional bottle besides aero bottle. Transition 2
Comments: Probably the first time I put socks on in T2. Could have done this a bit quicker. Otherwise OK. What would you do differently?: Get socks on smoother. Run
Comments: Pretty good. Generally moved up in the field. Super tough course. Almost 2 minutes better than 2 years ago. What would you do differently?: Not much. Post race
Warm down: Hurried back to hotel to shower and help load stuff before check-out. What limited your ability to perform faster: Crappy sighting and drafting on the swim. Rain and wind on bike course. HILLS on run course. Event comments: Cold swim really not a big deal. Challenging bike and extremely challenging run course. I like this race. Last updated: 2008-12-15 12:00 AM
