Run
Comments: Started off steady. Let the rabbits go and just stayed constant the entire way. The blisters at mile 4 and 5 make those 10 seconds slower, otherwise I would have made sub 6 avg. What would you do differently?: Showed up earlier to use the bathroom. They didn't have enough and the lines were freaken long! Post race
Warm down: Threw up at the finish. Walked around, 2 bagels, waited with dad for mom to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Blisters. Event comments: The setup for this race was a joke. 1. There were way too few port-a-poties. 2. We had to write our numbers on tape and affix them to a bag for identification and give them to like the one guy running the entire bag check. 3. Bag check was wide open..... what if it rained. 4. The whole set up was next to the smelly trees, which at first I thought were the port-a-potties. 5. The gate to the fence was locked 4000 people and one entrance to the park is locked...... really? F-ing really? Someone ghetto rigged some chairs so the people could climb over. Can you say insurance liability? I'm bringing bolt cutters next year. I'm glad I got to experience this race 4 years ago when it was actually good. The start was actually at the old post office in the middle of the city. It was beautiful. They shut down the streets and everyone got to run around the city. Not as fast as a course as West Potomac Park, but much more memorable and organized. My thanks go out to the people that did their job and did it well. But the people who planned this thing need to do a better job. Last updated: 2008-12-15 12:00 AM
