Run
Comments: Awesome run, I had to constantly plan each step so I had no time to think about if I was tired or not. Lots of people fell, I mangaed to stay on both feet the entire time, but came close to crashing a few times. Felt good for most of the run, only got tired around 10 miles in, but then the gel I had must have kicked in because I felt good again. What would you do differently?: Drink more water/gatorade. I have never had leg cramps while running, but around 10 miles my right outer calf muscle started to cramp causing my foot to pull out. It was a very weird sensation. It went away, but the last 1/2 mile there was a muddy slippery downhill before the uphill finish. I was having trouble not slipping and falling in the mud and I noticed both outer calf muscles started to cramp. I was probably dehydrated, and the uneven terrain is not something I am used to running in for that long. Next time, train on more trails and drink more when running. Post race
Warm down: None - grabbed banana, orange, gatorade and water. Walked to car. What limited your ability to perform faster: The mud and technical difficulty of trying to stay upright. Event comments: Will do this again next year - it was a lot of fun. Last updated: 2008-12-29 12:00 AM
